Tafsir Muyassar :

142  The foolish among the people will say, "What has turned them away from their qiblah, which they used to face?" Say, "To Allah belongs the east and the west. He guides whom He wills to a straight path."

143  And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. And We did not make the qiblah which you used to face except that We might make evident who would follow the Messenger from who would turn back on his heels. And indeed, it is difficult except for those whom Allah has guided. And never would Allah have caused you to lose your faith. Indeed Allah is, to the people, Kind and Merciful.

144  We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do.

145  And if you brought to those who were given the Scripture every sign, they would not follow your qiblah. Nor will you be a follower of their qiblah. Nor would they be followers of one another's qiblah. So if you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, indeed, you would then be among the wrongdoers.

MUSLIM IN MONGOLIA

Islam in Mongolia is practiced by approximately 3 to 5% of the population.[1][2] It is practised by the ethnic Kazakhs of Bayan-Ölgii Province (88.7% of total aimag population) and Khovd Province (11.5% of total aimag population, living primarily in the Khovd cityKhovd sum and Buyant sum) aimag in western Mongolia. In addition, a number of small Kazakh communities can be found in various cities and towns spread throughout the country.

History

The earliest evidence of Islam in Mongolia is dated to 1254, when the Franciscan William of Rubruck visited the court of the great khan Mongka at Karakorum. He celebrated Easter at a Nestorian Christian church but also noted seven temples of the "idolators" (possibly Buddhist, Hindu and Taoist temples) and two mosques. Therefore, historians date the arrival of Islam to Mongolia to between 1222 and 1254. Islam also gained the notice of the Mongols after Genghis Khan invaded Afghanistan. In 1222, on his way back to Mongolia, he visited Bukhara in Transoxiana. It was believed he inquired about Islam, and subsequently approved of Muslim tenets except the Hajj, considering it unnecessary. Nevertheless, he continued his worship of Tengri as his ancestors had done.

Genghis Khan and the following Yuan emperors forbade Islamic practices like Halal butchering, forcing Mongol methods of butchering animals on Muslims, and other restrictive degrees continued. Muslims had to slaughter sheep in secret.[3] Genghis Khan directly called Muslims and Jews "slaves" and demanded that they follow the Mongol method of eating rather than the halal method. Circumcision was also forbidden. Jews were also affected, and forbidden by the Mongols to eat Kosher.[4]

Among all the [subject] alien peoples only the Hui-hui say “we do not eat Mongol food”. [Cinggis Qa’an replied:] “By the aid of heaven we have pacified you; you are our slaves. Yet you do not eat our food or drink. How can this be right?” He thereupon made them eat. “If you slaughter sheep, you will be considered guilty of a crime.” He issued a regulation to that effect ... [In 1279/1280 under Qubilai] all the Muslims say: “if someone else slaughters [the animal] we do not eat”. Because the poor people are upset by this, from now on, Musuluman [Muslim] Huihui and Zhuhu [Jewish] Huihui, no matter who kills [the animal] will eat [it] and must cease slaughtering sheep themselves, and cease the rite of circumcision.

Khalid al Walid Mosque before and after civil war

Abū Sulaymān Khālid ibn al-Walīd ibn al-Mughīrah al-Makhzūmī (Arabic: أبو سليمان خالد بن الوليد بن المغيرة المخزومي‎‎; 585–642), also known as Sayf ullah al-Maslūl (Arabic: سيف الله المسلول‎; Drawn Sword of God) was a companion of Muhammad. He is noted for his military tactics and prowess, commanding the forces of Medina under Muhammad and the forces of his immediate successors of the Rashidun CaliphateAbu Bakr and Umar ibn Khattab. It was under his military leadership that Arabia, for the first time in history, was united under a single political entity, the Caliphate. Commanding the forces of the nascent Islamic state, Khalid was victorious in over a hundred battles, against the forces of the Byzantine-Roman EmpireSassanid-Persian Empire, and their allies, in addition to other Arab tribes. His strategic achievements include the conquest of Arabiaduring the Ridda WarsPersian Mesopotamia and Roman Syria within several years from 632 to 636. He is also remembered for his decisive victories at YamamahUllais, and Firaz, and his tactical successes at Walaja and Yarmouk.

Khalid ibn al-Walid (Khalid son of al-Walid) was from the Meccan tribe of Quraysh, from a clan that initially opposed Muhammad. He played a vital role in the Meccan victory at the Battle of Uhud against the Muslims. He converted to Islam, and joined Muhammad after the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and participated in various expeditions for him, such as the Battle of Mu'tah, which was the first battle between the Romans and the Muslims. Khalid ibn Al-Walid reported that the fighting was so intense, that while fighting, he broke nine swords in the battle. This earned him the title ‘Saif-ullah' meaning "The Sword of Allah". Khalid took over after Zayd ibn Haritha, then Jafar ibn Abi Talib, then Abdullah ibn Rawahah were killed. After Muhammad's death, he played a key role in commanding Medinan forces for Abu Bakr in the Ridda wars, conquering central Arabia and subduing Arab tribes. He captured the Sassanid Arab client Kingdom of Al-Hirah, and defeated the Sassanid Persian forces during his conquest of Iraq (Mesopotamia). He was later transferred to the western front to capture Roman Syria and the Byzantine Arab client state of the Ghassanids.

Although Umar later relieved him of high command, he nevertheless remained the effective leader of the forces arrayed against the Byzantines during the early stages of the Byzantine–Arab Wars. Under his command, Damascus was captured in 634 and the key Arab victory against the Byzantine forces was achieved at the Battle of Yarmouk (636), which led to the conquest of the Bilad al-Sham (Levant). In 638, he was dismissed from military services.

Khalid fought around 200 battles, both major battles and minor skirmishes as well as single duels, during his military career. Having remained undefeated, he is claimed by some to be one of the finest military generals in history.

The grave of one of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Khalid ibn al-Walid (May Allah be pleased with him) has been destroyed by forces of Bashar al Assad. This is very sad that I am speechless.

May Allah have mercy on the innocent population of Syria and remove the oppressors. May Allah protect all the historical and religious sites in Syria from this conflict.

The only public Islamic library in Mongolia is about to close. AND YOU CAN HELP SAVE IT!

Islam and Mongolia shared a rich historical narrative during the Mongol Empire. Many Mongols who converted to Islam intermixed in Muslim countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, modern-day Mongolia is home to about 100,000 Muslims.

There is only 1 public Islamic Library in Mongolia, as a reliable and in-depth source of knowledge for the Deen, and we are trying to save it!

We are raising an entire year's rent (1200 $). Any excess will be used to update the book shelves, support free English/ Arabic classes, the latest addition of "halal tours" for tourists and locals, and as capital to fund a small coffee shop that will generate sustainable income for the library.

You may give a basic donation of 10 USD, 25 USD for 1 week's rent, 100 USD for 1 month's rent, 600 USD for 6 months' rent or 1,200 USD for 1 year's rent.

Who is our Muslimah Librarian?

The only Public Islamic library in Mongolia was founded by a Muslim revert, Sister Fatimah bin Abdullah. Bolortsetseg Bariisaa, born into the Halh Mongol tribe, found Islam after studying different religions almost her whole life. She learned Arabic in UAE and studied the Quranic sciences in Turkey. After 16 years of being a Muslim, she has taken the responsibility to share the Deen and its wide array of knowledge to other Muslims, locals and tourists in her hometown in Mongolia.

*Read more about her in Zilzar Life's interview: http://zilzarlife.com/the-mongolian-muslimah-trying-to-build-an-islamic-library-for-her-country.

Why does Mongolia need an Islamic library?

As a Muslim in Mongolia, she saw the need to revive a more holistic approach to Islamic education that is diversified in approach, but grounded in Quran and sunnah. There are other libraries inside the mosques, however, she observes that tourists are usually afraid to enter. Since she is a translator on her day-job, she used the vacant space in her office to set up a library - the only public Islamic library in the country. Literally, ANYBODY can come in and read!!! The library hosts an array of books in Arabic, English and Mongolian, and serves coffee and tea for those who stay to discuss. Sister Fatimah also conducts "halal tours" for tourists and locals, for those who want to go to learn more about the Muslim community.

The library are also organises FREE Arabic and English classes for Mongolian students.

How to support #MuslimsInMongolia?

Sadly, the only public Islamic library in Mongolia is currently closed due to rent problems.

The rent of the office is 250000MNT per month or 128$/ month. This excludes tax of 143000MNT or 73$. Hence, the total rent every month is about 200$

We are trying to raise a whole year's entire rent (1200 $).

Tafsir Muyassar :

135  They say, "Be Jews or Christians [so] you will be guided." Say, "Rather, [we follow] the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists."

136  Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

137  So if they believe in the same as you believe in, then they have been [rightly] guided; but if they turn away, they are only in dissension, and Allah will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

138  [And say, "Ours is] the religion of Allah. And who is better than Allah in [ordaining] religion? And we are worshippers of Him."

139  Say, [O Muhammad], "Do you argue with us about Allah while He is our Lord and your Lord? For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. And we are sincere [in deed and intention] to Him."

140  Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants were Jews or Christians? Say, "Are you more knowing or is Allah?" And who is more unjust than one who conceals a testimony he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

141  That is a nation which has passed on. It will have [the consequence of] what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do.

139  Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): "Patutkah kamu (hai kaum Yahudi dan Nasrani) membuat bantahan terhadap kami mengenai pilihan Allah dan pengurniaanNya ? Padahal Dia lah Tuhan kami dan Tuhan kamu. Bagi kami (faedah) amal kami dan bagi kamu pula (faedah) amal kamu (kalau diikhlaskan), dan kami adalah (mengerjakan amal dengan) ikhlas kepadaNya;

139  Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): "Patutkah kamu (hai kaum Yahudi dan Nasrani) membuat bantahan terhadap kami mengenai pilihan Allah dan pengurniaanNya ? Padahal Dia lah Tuhan kami dan Tuhan kamu. Bagi kami (faedah) amal kami dan bagi kamu pula (faedah) amal kamu (kalau diikhlaskan), dan kami adalah (mengerjakan amal dengan) ikhlas kepadaNya;

It was narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said:

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed by a man who was praying on a rock, and he went towards Makkah and stayed a while, then he left and found the man still praying as he had been. He stood up and clasped his hands, then said: “O people, you should observe moderation,” three times, “for Allah does not get tired (of giving reward) but you get tired.”

Another translation

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him passed by a man who was praying on a rock. The Prophet went to Mecca and remained there for a while, then he returned and found the man still praying this way. The Prophet stood and clasped his hands and said, “O people, you must be moderate, you must be moderate, you must be moderate! Verily, Allah will not give up until you give up.

The main mosque in Ölgii

The culture of the Kazakh majority is strongly influenced by Islamic traditions. The mosque of Ölgii also houses the Islamic Center of Mongolia. It is placed at an unusual angle within the fabric of the city, because the building was oriented exactly towards Mecca. There's also a madrasah (Islamic school) at the same place.

The aimag is famous for the traditional practice of hunting with trained eagles. The captive eagles work in a similar way as hunting falcons do. While eagles are used for hunting in other parts of the world, particularly Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the practice is most common in Bayan-Ölgii, where an estimated 80% of the world's eagle hunters live. The annual Golden Eagle Festival is held in Ölgii every October to display the skill of eagle hunters, with about 70 hunters participating per year.
