▪︎ How is the weather in summer ?
▪︎ Bagaimana cuaca pada musim panas ?

▪︎ Very hot .... burning for the skin
▪︎ Sangat panas ... membakar untuk kulit

Pitcairn Islands (UK) : Adamstown
Polynesia

Pop : 1790 : 19 people  ... 1936 : 250 people ... today : about 50

_________________________

Geography

Adamstown ... population only about 50 people

Due to the island's dwindling population - down from its peak of 250 in 1936 - vital positions need to be recruited from off-shore.

The People of Pitcairn

The majority of Pitcairn Islanders are descended from the nine mutineers of Bounty who, led by Fletcher Christian, landed there in 1790 with six Polynesian men, twelve Polynesian women, and an infant girl.

The Adamstown Neighbourhood

Most Pitcairners live in and around Adamstown, the original home of the mutineers, though some newer homes have been built at the top of the island to make the most of the incredible views.

Pitcairn Island police officer

The island's dark underbelly was exposed in 2004 when seven of its then 47 residents were trialled on sex offence charges. Six were found guilty, including the island's Mayor.

Nearly 30 per cent of the island's men are convicted sex offenders.

The men who were facing trial built their own prison, which they have all now been released from.
